I know how your friends feel. I live in Houghton and due to the heartless parking enforcement policy, I rarely go downtown unless I walk. I was at the Cactus and not only received one parking ticket but a second one soon afterwards, while others in the area did not. I thought that it was late enough in the evening that we weren't subject to parking fees at that time. It was so expensive that I'd rather go elsewhere, which I've done now for years now.

Jay Arnold wants the already busy Animal Control Officer to count the horses in Bridle Trails. Really, residents have purchased there land and have rights. If they want or do not want horses on their land it is not up to the city to prove a point that this area is no longer rural so we can ruin it with a hug 6 story out of place mixed use development that will bring in more sales tax, and allow people to live in this area.

Also I am very unhappy that Amy is so pro-developer. She states at 3:53:00 in the above link that she does not want a legislative process (like HENC), and wants administrative which means the planning director makes the decision, and not a public hearing because she thinks we need "commitments to developers". And as we know currently we do not have an real acting planning director and are short in this area. Would a new planning director understand the complex neighborhood plans and zoning codes of our city to effectively make a decision that is in the best interest of the residents. I want Bridle Trail shopping center to have a legislative approval the city owes this to the residents. Especially since this area can already be developed to 3 stories and add over 600 apartments. Again the developer wants to make the highest return possible at the expense of the neighborhood.

I am well aware of the Bellevue Spring District and residents did not hold up the development there was a lot of uncertainty created because of the light rail, the economy dive in 2008, and figuring out moving auto row and relocating many businesses. I use to work for a large land owner that has parcels in this area. Maybe Amy should listen more closely to the residents instead of a major property developer and management company so she hears both sides of the story?

Real justice? As opposed to fake justice? Or is it the tired, old progressive rant about justice for the rich only? By the way, who are the rich? I guess people who get real justice... Top notch schools? Even though we are spending roughly 10 times as much per student as we did in 2002, with no improvement in results? I guess we just need to spend more... Equal rights? Wow, I guess that must be self-evident somehow. Seems like "rights" is a never ending list that continues to grow at the whim of any group or individual. Housing for all? Really? And a kitten under every child's tree.. Of course this ignores the fact that the Democrat's "Growth Management Act" and restrictive zoning laws are what has caused the housing "crisis." But, heck, it has made all of us who already owned housing rich. Oops, did I just answer the "who are the rich" question? The people who use government force to make themselves rich at the expense of the poor people they claim to want to help?

That is, she stands for the party that insists on real justice, that is for top notch education, the party that insists on equal rights and that wants housing for all. Yes, this all costs money but if the tax system was overhauled to spread the burden fairly we'd all benefit. Rodney Tom is with the bunch that wants less taxes, damn the result!!

Agree with you all! Patty Kuderer, to the best of my knowledge, has never had an original thought or idea. She has merely followed the Democrat leadership, and they have gotten us into the fiscal mess we see now, with out of control and underfunded pension expenses.
At least Mr. Tom has tried to bring some sanity to the Olympia asylum.

Rodney Tom is one of the best State Senators we ever had. Whether Democrat or Republican he was and is a middle of the road guy who got things done. He is neither far left nor far right. He is socially liberal and fiscally conservative. No, you will not see him voting the straight party line. Isn't that what we really need in our elected officials?

I like the way this person spends 90% of the letter ripping the scary Republican and says nothing of the credentials of the candidate it's endorsing, other than she's a Democrat. Given the state of this State, people should be really frightened of every Democrat. It's myopic voting for any person with a pulse as long as they have a "d" by their name that got us here in the first place.
